Was It Just A Dream

fontaine“You see things;
and you say, ‘Why?’
But I dream things
that never were;
and I say, ‘Why not?’”
(George Bernard Shaw)

Every once in a while
I like to just pick out
a favorite word or idea —

— and then see
what I can come up
with to amalgamate
into the daily post.

In other words,
sit back,jayne
consult the muses,
write,
browse,
and then
watch what happens.

It’s like throwing
a match into a
fireworks factory–

— you never know what
kinda sparks will result.

All kinds of fuses
might get lit, ya know.georgia

Or it might just be that
the match simply fizzles
out on the floor,
basically because the
cleaning people didn’t
do a good enough job
of getting all the
mop water up.

You jest can’t get good
help these days, man.

Hey-
Ever notice that the
pre-packaged egg whites
they sell in the littleraja
milk carton thingees
won’t whip up
worth a damn?

Why iz that,
I wonder.

And you may be
wondering
why I even mention it.

But, you’ve probably been
around here long enough
to know that I’m making
one of my belabored
segue/explanations
on todays’ theme.fufu

You see, I had this
weird dream in which
I was making
(trying to make, anyway)
Angel Food Cake for my
high school sweet-heart ‘d’ —

(Ok, so she wasn’t that sweet,
but she did bust up my
heart in about
a thousand pieces…
— still, I digress.)

and the prepackaged
damned egg whitesoracles
that I was using –

(a product that didn’t exist
when I was in high school, btw)

wouldn’t give me
the stiff peaks
I was looking for —
or any peaks at
all to speak of.

Yes, that’s another thing
that reminded of her, too.

Again…
digressing badly.

Getting back toreddevil
the original point
of this treatise
(as difficult as that might
be at this juncture)
I chose the concept ‘dream’
as our daily post victim/subject,
because I kinda wondered about
the whole meaning of the thing.

Oh sure,
there’s plenty
of directions
and different spins
on the subject of dreams
in vintage publications—

but, I thought I’d digsteall
through the
virtual mountain of ’em
and find a theme that
would work for me
and maybe even give
me an idea of what
that dream meant.

Hey–
I know this ain’t
exactly a scientific approach
to it, but I’m not
exactly an Einstein myself.

And speaking of scientifickonje
approaches,
well….
you can’t go
any farther askew
than with vintage
“Dream Books”.

These things claimed
to be sources of ancient wisdom
and able to provide love advice,
dream interpretations,
lucky numbers,
all kinds of hocus-pocus-hokum.

And some of them are
actually still in print today.raj

So, let’s see if you can look
into your crystal ball and
see where we’re going with this.

Awww—
—you got it.

Damn,
maybe I shouldn’t
have led off with pictures, huh?

The other day B had a dream that a one legged man was chasing him with a knife , and i handed him a skirt and told him to RUN. I, on the other hand, was having a dream about his Nether Parts dipped in chocolate.

Freud would have a lot of fun with B!

    As to DIEM3, I can relate 😉

Madame Fu Fu. . . hahahahah

  3. Great post and the Dream book covers you shared are so cool!

I am fascinated by dreams. I have very vivid elaborate dreams. I’ve learned from my dreams.

I do love dreams, whether night dreams, or day dreams or wet dreams. 🙂
    Sweet-dreams-HUGS!!! 🙂

I stopped watching horror…nightmares can get ugly.
    This whole post reminds me of the guy who visits his doc and asks;
“When my broken arm heals will I be able to play golf?”
    The Doc says; “Sure”
The guy says; “That’s great because I never could play golf before…”

Hmmm….was that an old Groucho skit? 😉

I think dream interpretation is still going strong with the mystics. That last pic is dreamy to be sure!
