  3. HA! Mr. Twain is smart, and I often agree with him…but naked people DO have an influence on society, sometimes good and sometimes not-so-good, but they do! 🙂
    But, he’s right about how a person dresses…it tells us something about them and their self-esteem and their attitudes and personality, etc.

    I wonder what he would say to the “flesh sells” approach taken by modern advertisers. I’m thinking Sports Illustrated would disagree on the whole “unclothed = no influence” argument. Likewise Bally’s Gym, Victoria’s Secret, Coca Cola (remember the construction worker ad?), Doublemint Gum, and of course the entire porn industry.

    People want to buy what’s being sold when the sellers are unclothed. I’d call that “influence.”
