Sunday Morning Music

a2Hiya —

Welcome to another
Sunday Morning Music Post !!!

If I had some way of doing it,

I’d share the tens of thousands
of pieces of music of various genres
that have influenced me in some way–

These Sunday Morning Posts
are just a way of doing that on a smaller scale.

Hey ——

Can you name five popular music bands
that used a flute as part of their sound?bom

Jerry Eubanks of Marshall Tucker,
sure — ok — that’s one.
Running Like The Wind

.

And I know most of you
probably came up with Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull ….
Thick As A Brick

.

Getting a little tougher, now, huh ?
Well….
How about Walter Parazaider of Chicago?
Colour My World brass

.

And of course,
who could forget Traffic’s Chris Wood ?
Glad / Freedom Rider  ”

.

But, I’ll bet you forgot
the guy they used to call “the Flute” —
Moody Blues’ Ray Thomas.
Eternity Road

.

Now, you might be wondering
what all this flute Focus is about, today, cha
and honestly, I have no idea.
I just got a bee up my bonnet about it today.
Call it Hocus-Pocus if you want to.
I’m like that.

.

Hey–
about a couple classic
Motorcycle Songs?

.

Blindview — ” Silver Machines

.

Boogaboo — ” Devil’s Lullaby

.

Waylon Jennings — “ The Wild Ones

.

Our secret album selection is here.

Sunday Morning Music

recjaHello there !!!

Happy Sunday –
and time for our
weekly musical adventure.

Today, we’ve picked
several of our
featured artists songs —

Sorta a two for one sale.

.

Let’s start outrecd
with an irresistible vibe —
Fleetwood Mac’s
Peacekeeper “,
https://youtu.be/56ucHN0TT10 .

And from 1987-

” Everywhere “

.

Elvis Costello
has been around a while, now —
and he’s still doing great work.
One of his classics :

” Alison

And maybe one
you haven’t heard:

” I Want You “o

.

Grace Slick was,
of course,
vocalist for the Jefferson Airplane.
But she was also a
pretty interesting solo performer.
Here’s my favorite
Grace Slick chort :

Dreams “.

And a great piece that’s
been pretty much
ignored by radio —

” Let It Go “

.

Tears For Fears was simply
one of the most underrated groups ever-
Their creative
The Seeds Of Love” album domed
was cutting edge.
Here’s the title cut from
that album, from 1989.

And, from 1985 ….

” Shout ”

.

Steppenwolf is one of
my all-time favorite bands.
And I don’t quite understand
why most people only know
two of their songs —
Magic Carpet Ride”

andring

“Born To Be Wild”.

But, they are, first and foremost,
a biker music group, sure.
And with that in mind,
here’s one of the greatest
unknown biker songs ever .

Two,  actually —
Cause one just ain’t enough, man.

Hippo Stomp ” —
this one never fails to get a rise out of me.
Perfect for an afternoon putt .

.

The second is by the Grateful Dead –
– ” Hell In A Bucket
And you thought they were
just a bunch of mellow mushrooms.ramones

Wait–
I still owe you another Dead piece, right?

” Touch Of Gray ”

.

Speaking of mellow, though —
How about this one ?

Marty Balin — ” Hearts ” .

One of my favorite Balin pieces is called:

” Lydia “

and we can’t forget (from the same album)

” Atlanta Lady ” skimpy

.

Our top-secret album selection
is here ….
Boz Scaggs’s brilliant ” Silk Degrees ” .

.

Ooops —
I gave it away, didn’t I ?

Or did I ?

Hey–
hope to see you next week !

You never know what
other great music is waiting for ya.

My friend Ms.Fever has added a few very interesting suggestions,
and I couldn’t resist adding them to this post :

Kenny Rogers: Lady,
Pat Benetar: Hit Me With Your Best Shot,
Blondie: The Tide Is High,
Devo: Whip It,

and this little gem that has somehow become a Christmas song:

I like the ’80s in general, really. (I have no excuse.) U2’s first “best” album was The Joshua Tree (it was surpassed, in my opinion, with Achtung Baby! – they haven’t come even remotely close to that level of amazing since), which is the album that introduced “With or Without You.” Since that song hit the charts in ’87, I’m guessing your “1980” is a bit flexible.😉

In that case, I offer you the most fantabulous tune of 1987:

Oh-oh-oh!!! And don’t even get me started on the hair bands, baby!
